College of Education and Human Services
Curriculum & Instruction – Teacher Ed
We offer a range of initial teacher certification programs in flexible formats, including traditional undergraduate day courses and options designed for working adults. For individuals who have already completed a bachelor’s degree, the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) provides a streamlined pathway to teacher certification, with course scheduling designed to accommodate professional responsibilities.
Our programs are grounded in research-based practices, including co-teaching models that support collaborative instruction. Teacher candidates engage in meaningful field experiences with PK–12 learners throughout their program. °µÍøTV alumni in public school teaching positions consistently report they felt well prepared or very well prepared in their first year. School leaders, including principals and superintendents, consistently seek out °µÍøTV candidates for their strong preparation and readiness to enter the profession.
°µÍøTV’s teacher education programs are aligned with Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) standards and are regularly reviewed to ensure compliance with current certification requirements and best practices in educator preparation. See a list of certification requirements in other states.
For specifics about our field experiences and portfolio requirements, please see our documents and handbooks.
